The History of the Idaho Spud

Idaho Candy Company began as a dream in 1901, when T.O. Smith started making candy from his home in Boise. In 1909, he partnered with the Adams family to build what was then the most modern factory in the city—featuring skylights and a break room for employees. Inside this factory, the Idaho Spud and other classic candies were born, becoming beloved treats inspired by the Northwest. More than a century later, they are still made in this same 23,000-square-foot building, with some original early-1900s equipment still in use today... Learn more.
